Calm in the Cove
Dimensions: 37”x 28” x 2”
So last year I was awarded the most amazing opportunity to take part in the Alaska State Parks Artist in Residence Program.
A chance to go to one my most favorite places in the world.
Stay in a boat-in only cabin for a week.
Wade through tidal pools and paddle up to the face of a glacier.
Read, sketch, paint.
All in the midst of a global pandemic?
Yes, thank you.
This batik was inspired by the CALM that I felt during that entire trip.
There most definitely was not cell service, nor, needless to say, WiFi and that in and of itself created calm within me.
We were able to disconnect from the world completely and instead connect with ourselves, each other (yup, the husband got to go too!), and most importantly the earth.
Until we meet again. . .
This is an original batik created through a wax resist and hand painted cold water dye process on 100% unbleached cotton & stretched over a solid wood frame (thankfully made by my oh so talented husband). It comes ready to hang from a heavy duty wire.
